Journey in the steps of St Paul to Greece and Turkey (Sep/Oct 2025)

I have been fascinated by the Apostle Paul for as long as I have been reading the New Testament. As a missionary, pastor, and theologian, no one (beside Jesus himself) has had more influence on the formation of Christianity. My own post-graduate research has thus far focused on Paul’s correspondence to the Christian community in Corinth (Greece) and I will soon turn to Paul’s letters to those in Ephesus (Turkey).

In September/October 2025 there is an opportunity to join an exciting tour which Nat and I will be escorting. The tour will take us from the Aegean Islands to Athens and Corinth, central and northern Greece (including Thessaloniki, Philippi, and more), and into Turkey where our visits include Gallipoli, Troy, Ephesus and Istanbul (and so much more). The highlight includes a four-night Aegean Island Cruise.

This tour will ground your faith in the history and culture in which the early Christian communities were founded. You will come back with fresh eyes through which to read the New Testament and a sense of continuity with the “one holy catholic (universal) and apostolic church” to which you belong.

The information brochure is available here.

The booking form is available here.

Nat and I have toured with Olive Tree Travel on numerous occasions visiting sites in Israel, Jordan, Turkey and Greece. We cannot wait to go back. We will be guided by expert local guides while Nat and I will serve a pastoral and organising role before and during the tour.

Scott is an ordained Anglican Priest who pastors an Anglican church in regional New South Wales, Australia. Nat is the music director in their parish. In addition to his under-graduate degree in Theology Scott holds two Masters degrees focussing on the Pauline corpus. His monograph on 1 Corinthians is published by Wipf & Stock (2023) and he intends to commence his PhD research on Pauline marriage theology in 2025.

There will be an information gathering on Sunday 9th February (2025), 3pm at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Turvey Park with Zoom video link-up option available.
